Cheer on Wolverines boy’s soccer Tuesday, Oct. 11

Submitted by Brendan Cowan.

In a matchup of two of the strongest 1B/2B boys soccer teams in Washington, the Friday Harbor Wolverines will take on the Orcas Vikings at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the Linde Community Fields in Friday Harbor. This will be a great opportunity for the entire San Juan Island community to enjoy the October sunshine, pack the sidelines, watch some quality soccer, and loudly cheer on the home team.

Orcas won the 1B/2B State Championship in 2021 and are looking like contenders again this year. The Vikings have only one loss so far this season- a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Friday Harbor when the Wolverines visited Orcas on September 20th and grabbed a late goal to walk away victorious. That game was an extremely close affair, and Orcas will be looking for revenge when they visit San Juan on Oct. 11.

In only his second full season at the helm, Friday Harbor Head Coach Brett Paul has helped to build a team culture that blends smart soccer strategy with a roster that is fit, fast, and plays an aggressive and fun-to-watch brand of soccer.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Friday Harbor players have chosen to wear pink socks for the month of October and are hosting a pledge drive for each goal scored during the month. Anyone may pledge to support the team by filling out the form at:

Most importantly, come to the Linde Community Fields at 565 Carter Avenue on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and cheer them on.
