$10,000 prize at Salmon Classic for 16.6-pound catch

The 9th Annual Salmon Classic Invitational hosted 85 boats and 293 anglers. A total of 55 fish were weighed-in Friday, Feb. 3, and 38 fish were weighed-in Saturday, Feb. 4, and $25,000 worth of cash prizes were awarded.

• Jason King, of Bellingham, Wash., won $10,000 for his first place 16.6-pound catch.

• Brian Dennis, of Lake Tapps, Wash., and David Hodges, of Friday Harbor, both won $4,000, tying for second place with a fish weighing 16.2-pounds.

• Dale Nelson, of Bellingham, Wash., won $2,000 for his fourth place catch of 16.1-pounds.

•  Derek Floyd, of Camano Island, Wash., won fifth place with a 14.2- pound fish and was awarded $1,000.

•  Jennifer Payne, of Friday Harbor, Wash., won $2,000 for the the Mystery Fish division with a 6.12-pound fish.

• Derek and Julie Floyd, of Camano Island, Wash., and Scott and Shannon Bumstead, of Lake Stevens, Wash., won $2,000 for the Best Boat Total Weight division with a total of 44.13 pounds.

• Four-year-old Christian Thomas, of Tacoma, Wash., won the “Youngest Angler” with a 5.1-ounce salmon.
