Maintain EMS care quality

Many of your readers know me. I had the privilege of practicing Medicine on the island from 2008 until 2014. In that period of time I worked closely with the EMTs and Paramedics that the islanders are fortunate to have. I can tell you that in my forty years of practicing Emergency Medicine across the country I have not witnessed the level of teamwork, skill and caring that exists in the pre-hospital emergency care on San Juan Island.

The up-coming levy vote is critical in maintaining this level of care. Without it young and old alike will loose access to rapid, life saving, in-field Emergency Medical Care.

It needs to be made clear that NONE of the money from this levy will go to Peace Health or Peace Island Medical Center.

Sincerely,
