Our sincerest thanks to the San Juan Island Community Foundation for their recent grant award to help Islands’ Oil SpillAssociation obtain a badly-needed new outboard motor for our spill response vessel that is stationed at the Port of FridayHarbor.

The Green Heron, our 23′ spill response vessel, is one of two IOSA spill response boats that we depend on to get crew andspill response equipment quickly to a spill site in San Juan County and the current motor has needed replacing for severalyears. The San Juan Island Community Foundation recently granted us an award of $5000 toward the purchase of a motor,in addition to including IOSA in the matching grant program they had at the San Juan County Fair in August 2016.

We still need more funds to get the motor but the assistance from SJICF is a big step toward obtaining that goal.

As a non-profit, community-based spill response organization, we depend in large part on financial assistance from ourcommunity and the SJICF has helped us a number of times over the years with specific projects.

We want to thank each person involved with SJICF and publicly acknowledge our deep appreciation for their support.
