The rumor: “I heard there are no fireworks in Friday Harbor this year!”

This news is FALSE.

Primary Source: We spoke to the executive director of the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce, Becki Day, who coordinates the fireworks show each year. She has confirmed that there ARE, in fact, going to be fireworks in Friday Harbor for the holiday. Visit sanjuanisland.org to donate.

Where we think this rumor came from: The Port has combined the Rock the Dock event with the Pig War Picnic at the Fairgrounds this year, which means there won’t be an event at the marina (although shuttle service will be available to take people from the port to the fairgrounds for the extended-hours picnic event!). We think somehow this translated into people believing there would not be a fireworks show this year at the marina. But that is not correct.
