Zena Laverne Barnes

Zena Laverne Barnes passed away Feb 23, 2006 in Islands Convalescent Center from complications of a massive stroke suffered Feb 1 on Vashon Island, where she resided.

She was 87.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Laverne was a delightful and wise lady who was loved by many.

She is survived by her son, Mike Barnes, and daughter-in-law, Nancy, of Vashon Island; son, Steve Barnes, and daughter-in-law, Lynne, of Friday Harbor; grandchildren, Michael Barnes, Ted Barnes and Jan Cook of Seattle, Willis Barnes and Quentin Barnes of Vashon Island; great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Barnes and Robert Barnes of Friday Harbor and Milo Barnes of Seattle; sister Jo Frances Brewer, Graham, Texas; brother, Burl Scott, Big Spring, Texas; sister-in-law, Nell Barnes, Dallas, Texas; and stepmother, Stella Scott, Albuquerque, N.M.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Islands Convalescent Center for their incredible love and care of Laverne. Special thanks to Jean Staben, Judy Nash and Kirk Roderick for being there in our time of need.

Also thanks to Dr. Burk Gossom, Nurse Practitioner Susan Hill and Joann Mayo for their wonderful care, consideration and support to Laverne and the entire Barnes family.
