Norma A. Young
1921 — 2013
Norma A. Young, 91, of Anacortes, passed away peacefully in her home with her family at her side after a long and fruitful life on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013.
She was one of five siblings born to Mary Angela (McKay) Gagner and Theodore Henry Gagner, and grew up in Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, Washington.
Norma is survived by her husband of 44 years, Stanton Young, where they lived in Anacortes enjoying their retirement.
Her six children are: Paul M. Trammel, Saundra J. O’Neal, Rebecca J. Rumpff, Leslie A. Allen, Denise M. Uhrig and William T. Trammell. Norma’s four step-children are: J. Galen Young, Michael L. Young (deceased), Robert C. Young and Debbie L. Young. She enjoyed 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with one on the way and due in June.
Norma was a joy and delight to all who knew her and was always in service to family and friends, and devoted to her faith. She loved gardening, crocheting, good food, playing cribbage, traveling, clam digging, camping and the simple pleasures of life.
Norma enjoyed a good laugh and was very generous in love and spirit. She will be deeply missed by all, but has finally gone to her reward with Jesus and all her family and friends that have gone before.
Visitation will start at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes. A Vigil Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. A reception will follow the Mass.
Inurnment will take place at a future date in St. Francis Cemetery in Friday Harbor, Wash.
