Marian E. Franck | 1929-2018

Marian Elizabeth Franck passed away in Seattle, Washington on Jan. 9, 2018. She was born April 15, 1929 in Friday Harbor, Washinton to John W. and Runie Haubner. She grew up in Friday Harbor with her brother John and sisters, Freda, Irene and Joan. She graduated from Friday Harbor High School and attended the University of Washington. She married WWII Navy veteran George J. Franck of Friday Harbor, Washington, Sept. 5, 1948. Marian and George moved to Seattle in the late 1950’s but visited San Juan Island whenever they could.

Marian was a loving wife to George. She was a homemaker and wonderful mother to JoAnn and Jacqueline. She was gracious, generous and caring to those around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline; sister, Joan O’Keefe (Daniel); and her nieces and nephews, John Haubner (Kathy), Claudette Haubner, Joey Dietz, Judy Kalb, Geri Swan (Wayne), Wesley Carr, John Spangler, Paula Spangler (Robert Ellis), John O’Keefe, Steven O’Keefe, Jim Franck (Kim), Alison Wells, and Carol Hebert (Paul).

She is also survived by dear friends, Ed, Hye Youn, T.K. and Mi Rae, who opened their home and hearts to Marian and Jacqueline after the death of Marian’s husband, George. Marian and Jacqueline enjoyed many Thanksgivings, Christmases and Easters and other celebrations with the family. Marian loved them all and enjoyed watching the children, T.K. and Mi Rae, grow up. And survived by her lifelong friends, Betty Ramey and Gloria Louden.

Marian was preceded in death by daughter, JoAnn (1992); husband, George (1999); brother, John Haubner (Lois); sisters, Freda Carr (Wesley) and Irene Spangler and brother-in-law, Richard N. Franck (Nancy).
