Kareen R. Smith | Passages

Kareen R. Smith, a former resident of Friday Harbor, passed peacefully in her sleep in Marysville, Washington, where she had resided the last several years, on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022.

Kareen was born to Harlow and Thelma Freeman on April 27, 1936 in Buffalo, Wyoming. She is preceded in death by her parents Harlow and Thelma, her beloved husband Bob Smith and three grandsons. She is survived by her brother Monte of Seattle, her sister Pam Martel of Lind, daughter Tammy of Lind, two sons Gary Lee and wife Vickie, and Richard Smith and his fiance Danille Bucher, nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter.

Kareen was blessed. Kareen worked next to her husband Bob on their MV Aloma in Alaska for many years. When they retired from fishing and sold the Aloma they purchased and ran Reliable Cleaners in Friday Harbor for many years. Kareen was well known and loved in Friday Harbor before she moved closer to her family. A celebration of life for Kareen is scheduled for a date yet undetermined.
