Jean Ethel Read passed away on Jan. 4, 2020. Born to Jerold and Ethel Kinney on Sept. 28, 1929, in Seattle, Washington, she had a great childhood growing up on Lake Washington with her older brother, Jack. She met her husband of 70 years, Bob, in High School and they were married when she was 20. She attended the University of Washington until Bob was called for Service and they moved to San Diego while he served our country. They later moved back to the Seattle area and had three children, Gary, Mike and Wendy. After Gary and Mike went off to college, Bob and Jean took up sailing and were out every chance they could get. Then in 1977 they decided to move up to Friday Harbor and opened up the Donut Shop. Jean also worked as the High School Secretary and then as a Clerk at the Auditor’s Office. They stayed close with their high school and college friends and enjoyed traveling the world with them. They went to every city of every country on their bucket list. In 2004 they decided to move to Sisters, Oregon to be close to Wendy and her family and have lived in Central Oregon ever since. Jean is survived by her husband and kids; and grandchildren Kyle Read; Vince Read; Meagan Church; Madison Seabol;t and Spencer Greene and great-grandchildren Brooke, Summer and Sam Church, Isla Read and Ethan Munson.
