Dianne Moody Steed | 1932-2019

Dianne Moody Steed passed peacefully on Sept. 16. She was lovingly cared for these past few months by her husband of 70 years George Steed; her granddaughters Kelsey Steed and Courtney Oldwyn; her three sons George (Soph), Bryan and Greg Steed; dear friends Esther and Zane; as well as the wonderful crew of Hospice of the Northwest and the caring staff at The Village.

Dianne loved gardening, cooking, painting, art and her home but she treasured family above all else. She raised three sons in Southern California, passing on her love of family and her culinary skills to all of them (much to the enjoyment of their wives Vicky, Pam and Vanessa Steed!).

She and George (who married in 1949 in California) built their home at Roche Harbor on Neil Bay in 1985 on waterfront property they’ve owned since the 1960s. Their home became a favorite place for her sons, their wives, her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren.

The grandchildren, Eric Steed, Eric and Sonya Maxey, Shawn and Becky Steed, Courtney Oldwyn and Kelsey and Corey Steed spent many summers building forts around Neil Bay, chasing forest fairies, attempting to make homemade taffy and helping build a ‘secret garden’ in a dark corner of the yard.

In later years the great-grandchildren, Jamie and Jacob Maxey, Julia, Logan and Maya Steed and Isla and Wade Oldwyn carried on the same traditions.

Anyone who knew Dianne knew she was a woman who’s home was always impeccable, her garden was always in bloom and her table was always beautifully set.

She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
