Diana Giacomaro | Passages

June 23, 1935 to December 14, 2022

Diana Giacomaro (née Woodard) of Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, Washington passed away at the age of 87 on Wednesday, December 14. Throughout her life Diana was always a loving and giving person. As the daughter of James and Beulah Woodard of Royal Oak, Michigan, Diana became interested in arts and crafts at an early age. During her life she became known for her skill and artistry in knitting, needlepoint, quilting and other arts. She was also an excellent cook and a fantastic baker. Every year at Christmas, her friends and family would eagerly await her variety tin of old-world cookies.

In the last thirty-five years of her life, Diana, and her husband Ron, lived in a beautiful home they built and decorated in Friday Harbor. Diana and Ron were both avid gardeners, and their beautiful gardens were featured on garden tours of San Juan Island.

Diana will be deeply missed by all those she left behind: her husband Ron, the love of her life; her son Mark Hess and his wife Risa Tabakoff, of Katonah, NY; Diana’s brother Dan Woodard and his wife Lisa Nerenberg of Redwood City, CA. She will also be missed by her grandchildren: Elyssa Hess (Jon), Alec Hess (Monika); Rachel Hess (Matt) and one great-granddaughter, Frankie.

May she rest in heavenly peace until all those she loved join her once again.

Any remembrances for Diana may be in the form of a donation to Hospice of the Northwest (hospicenw.org).
