With a lifelong passion for sailing, growing exquisite roses and appreciation for fine rum, the Bear (David) moved to San Juan Island in 1982 from the ski slopes of Vail, Colorado.

A graduate of Michigan State with a degree in landscape/horticulture, he was active in both the Friday Harbor Sailing Club and the San Juan Island Yacht Club.

His wife, Mitzi (S.J.I.), son Kenneth, daughter-in-law Alexandra (Seattle), grandson Benjamin (Baltimore, Maryland.), daughter Lisa, son-in-law Dave, granddaughter Keegan (Alabama) and two brothers with families in both Texas and Louisiana are greatly appreciative of his hospice workers and the kind support of this wonderful island community.

Per Bear’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.
