Amie B. Ajamie | 1937-2016

Amie B. Ajamie, 79, of Friday Harbor, Washington passed peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her family on Dec. 19, 2016. She was born on May 3, 1937 in Birds Run, West Virginia to her parents Bert and Evelyn Wood. Amie had an older brother, Bert Jr., and two older sisters, Frances and Carolyn, all of whom predeceased our mother Amie.

Amie Ajamie was an incredible artist and sculptor. As it turns out, she was also a writer. Amie Ajamie moved to Phoenix, Arizona around the age of 11. She loved Phoenix. She loved the desert.

She loathed her birth name and refused to use it after she divorced our dad, James Ajamie, in 1976. But she and our father were the best of friends after the divorce.

Amie is survived by her two daughters, her eldest Elizabeth (Timothy Boyer) and their children Sonja Michelle Boyer and Thomas Nasif Boyer (and three grandchildren), and her youngest daughter Susan (Bob Wingate). She is also survived by her beloved pets: Teddy her dog and Timmy her cat, both who miss her terribly.

Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel &Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
