Unemployment rate continues to drop in San Juan County

San Juan County has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state of Washington. The unemployment rate in October 2019 was 3.9 percent, down from 4.9 in March 2019 and 5.3 percent in January 2019 according to the Washington Employment Security Department.

The only counties with a lower unemployment rate are Snohomish County with 3 percent and King with 2.7 percent.

The lowest that the unemployment rate in San Juan County has been in the last decade was 3 percent, reaching that point in August 2017 and 2018. This past August, it was 3.6 percent. The highest unemployment rate for San Juan County in the past decade came in January 2010 when it reached 9.9 percent. It peaked at 9.8 percent the following January and has been on a gradual decline since.
