TEDx talk on San Juan delves into impacting communities locally and globally

A riveting conference of 13 speakers and a host of volunteers came together at San Juan Community Theatre to present the first TEDxSanJuanIsland Sept. 20.

A riveting conference of 13 speakers and a host of volunteers came together at San Juan Community Theatre to present the first TEDxSanJuanIsland Sept. 20.

The topics ranged from healthcare administration to malaria prevention, changing the narrative of sexual assault to preventing elephant poaching, improving music teaching to children with autism to explorations of self portraiture.

Local faces such as Amy Herdy, Adam Summers, Ian Boyden, Gretchen Krampf and musical talent Brothers for Sale where among those from more far-flung places, like Australian-born film critic and report Alicia Malone, Swedish presenter Anders Sorman-Nilsson, and Dorothy Echodu presenting updated information on the fight against malaria in Uganda.
