Orcas woman’s death ruled accidental

Submitted by the San Juan County Prosecutor/Coroner and Sheriff’s Office.

A local woman’s death has been ruled an accident.

Danyel White, age 30, of Eastsound, was found dead in her home on Feb. 21. An investigation was conducted by the sheriff’s office, and Coroner Randall Gaylord requested an autopsy by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner with an analysis of toxicology.

The toxicology results indicated that White died of acute ethanol intoxication (alcohol poisoning) and that the manner of death is determined to be an accident. A blood alcohol concentration of .31 and higher is considered life-threatening, according to the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

Investigators were aware that White sustained injuries about six weeks prior to her death as the result of a physical assault. Based on information provided from the autopsy, Gaylord was able to conclude that those injuries did not contribute to her death.
