The Whale Museum invites everyone to its 10th annual celebration of the “Orca Greeting Ceremony.” This fundraising dinner and auction will be held on Friday, Sept. 23 at Brickworks in Friday Harbor.

The evening will begin in the courtyard with a happy hour and silent auction at 5:30 p.m.; the no-host bar will feature Northwest Totem Cellars wine from Mike’s Café & Wine Bar. Cellist Sasha von Dassow will provide the music. Market Chef is preparing the dinner beginning with appetizers of crostini and antipasti. The dinner will be a served buffet, including an entrée choice of prosciutto and artichoke stuffed chicken breast with white wine cream sauce or wild mushroom, parmesan and fresh herb risotto cake; entrees will be served with mashed Yukon gold potatoes, roasted veggies and homemade rolls with butter. San Juan Roasters is brewing the coffee. After dinner, Farhad Ghatan will emcee the entertaining portion of the evening – the live auction and raise the paddle followed by a dessert auction. That’s right, dessert after dinner is available in this delicious auction. Bid on delectable treats like the original “Chocolate Shot Cake,” Apple-Pear Pie, Cheesecake, Dessert Pizza, the Danish National Dessert (Rød Grød med Fløde), Red Wine Velvet Cake and many more.

Special thanks to our sponsors: Islanders Insurance, Islanders Bank, Mike’s Café & Wine Bar, Northwest Totem Cellars, John & Marcy Aschoff, Coldwell Banker-San Juan Islands, Windermere, Friday Harbor Pet Supply and Ace Hardware.
