Three new COVID cases on Orcas brings county total to 59

Three new cases of COVID-19 were identified and reported by San Juan County’s case count website on Nov. 19. The cases were documented as being on Orcas Island and brings the county total to 59 and the island’s total to 29.

According to the county’s website, the numbers for the other islands are as follows: San Juan Island has had 24 cases; Lopez has had five; outer islands have had one; and Shaw has had zero.

No further information is known at this time.

During a San Juan County Board of Health meeting on Nov. 18, Public Health Officer Dr. Frank James said the county was awaiting test results for 34 people who were close contacts of the nine recent positive Orcas cases.
