The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

Dec. 2

• A San Juan deputy responded to request for a citizen assist.

• San Juan deputies took a report of a patient who left Peace Island Medical Center against medical advice. An extensive check of the area was made with negative results.

• Deputies on San Juan responded to a domestic incident in Friday Harbor. The incident was determined to be verbal only.

Dec. 3

• San Juan deputies responded to Peace Island Medical Center about a domestic disturbance in the lobby. Deputies arrived and hospital staff said the disturbance was caused by a patient, who didn’t want to wear a mask, arguing with their caregiver. Deputies determined no crime had occurred.

• A deputy responded to a report of a theft in Eastsound. The suspect was located, the stolen property was recovered and the suspect was released with criminal charges pending.

• San Juan deputies located a patient who had left Peace Island Medical Center the night before against medical advice. She was cooperative and willing to return to the hospital so deputies gave her a ride back to the medical center and took a report.

• A San Juan deputy responded to a citizen assist.

Dec. 4

• A Lopez deputy responded to a panic alarm at a local organization. The alarm had been mistakenly tripped.

• Deputies on Orcas were dispatched to a reported sexual misconduct. An investigation was conducted and determined to be unfounded.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for not displaying a front license plate. The driver was arrested for driving on a suspended license, for an ignition interlock violation and for making a false statement to a public servant. The passenger was arrested on a felony warrant and booked into jail.

Dec. 5

• Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance in Eastsound.

• A Lopez deputy was sent to collect mail intended for the Sheriff’s Office that was misaddressed and delivered to a local business.

• A deputy was sent to check a Lopez residence after the off-island owners reported suspicious activity on the property. A check of the premises discovered nothing amiss.

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for a defective headlight and defective tail lights. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence.

Dec. 6

• Lopez deputies responded to a domestic disturbance. One of the parties involved left for the night following the investigation.

• A deputy on San Juan came across an abandoned vehicle partially in the roadway. Due to the safety risk the vehicle presented to motorists, the vehicle was towed.

• A deputy responded to a suspicious call in the Eastsound area.

• A San Juan deputy took a report of a possible email scam. A citizen received an email about a frozen bank account, but they have no account with that bank. No personal information was provided and there was no loss of funds.

• Deputies on Orcas responded to a domestic incident. After an investigation, deputies determined there was sufficient probable cause to believe the reporting party had been assaulted by a juvenile living in the house. A report was taken and sent to the prosecutor’s office.

Dec. 7

• A Lopez deputy followed up on an Adult Protective Services welfare check request. The person was in good health. The reported concerns were unfounded.

Dec. 8

• A Lopez deputy conducted a periodic residence verification check on a registered sex offender.
