Update June 11:

Apparently, there are now rumors that the family resource center in FH was raided yesterday. This is false information. I spoke with representatives from the SJI, Orcas, and Lopez family resources centers just now and they all confirmed that there were NO ICE raids at their locations.

Fellow community members,

I am writing you today to try and calm some fears regarding some rumors circulating around the island about ICE being on SJI today.

I have been contacted several times today regarding I.C.E. allegedly being on SJI and/or I.C.E. detaining/arresting three people on SJI.

The allegations of this that I’ve heard about today range from the following:

1. ICE was on SJI and detained three people.

2. ICE was on SJI and detained/arrested three people at the courthouse.

3. ICE was on SJI and detained/arrested three people at Kings

The Sheriff’s Office spoke with both Kings and Marketplace and a manager at both places stated ICE was not at their businesses, and nobody was detained on their properties.

Sheriff’s employees and courthouse employees have not seen or reported anyone in the courthouse resembling ICE agents and nobody being detained.

At this time, the Sheriff’s Office has no credible, articulable evidence that ICE Agents were at any of these locations or on SJI today.
