The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

March 16

• A deputy on San Juan took a report that a dock had gone missing. The reporting party believed it might be weather-related. There is no suspect information or a workable lead.

• A deputy responded to a call of a dog-at-large in the Eastsound area. The dog owner was issued a warning letter.

• On San Juan, a deputy took a report of a missing wallet. There is currently no suspect information or workable leads

• A San Juan deputy responded to a hit-and-run. The deputy located the vehicle the next day, after several hours of searching. The owner acknowledged that they were drinking but the victim did not wish to pursue charges because they did not want to be “mean.”

March 17

• On Orcas, a deputy responded to an accident with no injury near Eastsound. The owner of the vehicle had already contacted AAA.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of a found bicycle. The bike was entered into the evidence system as lost property.

• A San Juan deputy located a stolen vehicle out of Mount Vernon. Deputies determined the identity of the person in possession of the vehicle and charged them with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

• On San Juan, a deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for failing to yield right of way. The driver was found to have a suspended driver’s license and did not have an ignition interlock device. The deputy’s report was sent to the prosecutor’s office for a charging decision.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a trespassing call. After an investigation, a suspect was issued a trespass warning letter and arrested for boating under the influence.

• San Juan deputies responded to a single-vehicle rollover collision. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

• Deputies on Orcas responded to a complaint of trespassing and arrested the person for second-degree criminal trespass.

• A deputy on San Juan received a report of a runaway juvenile. The mother said the daughter was at a friend’s house, though a search was not conducted. The deputy asked the mother to call the sheriff if the daughter returned to school the next day.

March 18

• Deputies and medics responded to a citizen dispute on Center Island. The reporting party was treated by medics and escorted to her home. At this time, no crime was involved.

• An Orcas deputy booked several firearms into the island’s substation for safekeeping.

• Responding to a report of a theft in Friday Harbor, the deputy contacted the people involved. At the request of the business, a person was served with a trespassing warning instead of being arrested for shoplifting.

• San Juan deputies located a person with a warrant, placed them under arrest, and booked them into jail.

• Deputies on Orcas responded to a trespassing complaint. The suspect was arrested and booked into the San Juan County Jail for trespassing and violating the conditions of release.

• A Lopez deputy spoke with the registered owner regarding his vehicle which was creating a parking problem and a potential hazard in the 3700 block of Mud Bay Road. The registered owner agreed to make arrangements to have the vehicle removed to a safe location.

March 19

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle as the registered owner did not have a driver’s license. The driver received citations for not having a valid license with ID and for not having insurance. They also received multiple warnings.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of a wallet that had been found near Earthbox. The deputy attempted to locate the owner but was unable to find them. The wallet was entered into evidence as found property.

• A Lopez deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding on Fisherman Bay Road and issued the driver a citation for traveling 37 mph in a 25 mph zone, as well as a warning for several other violations.

March 20

• Deputies on San Juan responded to a domestic violence incident where the suspect had left in their personal vehicle. Deputies contacted the suspect at their residence and arrested for fourth-degree assault domestic violence.

March 21

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a burglary complaint. The investigation is ongoing.

• A Lopez deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle in the 2200 block of Fisherman Bay Road and issued them a ticket for driving 45 mph in a posted 25 mph zone.

March 22

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of credit card fraud. The victim sustained monetary loss and is in contact with their bank. There is no suspect information or any workable leads at this time.

• A Lopez deputy was called to investigate vandalism to property.
