The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
Sept. 12
• A deputy was dispatched to a downed aircraft at a San Juan runway. The pilot sustained minor injuries and the aircraft had major damage.
• Deputies on San Juan Island responded to a domestic disturbance. The incident was only a verbal argument, and a report was made.
• San Juan Island units responded to a complaint of suspicious activity at Sunken Park. Transients, who had been warned several times about causing problems, were removed from the park.
• A deputy responded to a Lopez residence for a criminal trespassing complaint. No trespasser was located, and there was no obvious evidence of a crime.
Sept. 13
• A Lopez Island deputy spoke with a Decatur Island resident who made a credit card fraud complaint. He stated that a person known to him stole money by making several online transactions without his permission. The matter is being investigated.
• A motorist was ticketed for speeding on Fisherman Bay Road on Lopez.
Sept. 14
• An ongoing trespass issue at a Lopez property resulted in a visit and report filed by the responding deputy.
• A deputy filed a report about a civil dispute in Friday Harbor.
• An Orcas Island deputy was dispatched to a custodial interference call. The report stated that the ex-spouse was refusing to give custody of the caller’s common children, which violated a court-ordered plan.
• A deputy spoke with a Lopez Island resident who found a canoe on his beach. The canoe’s owner was contacted and arrangements made to retrieve his lost canoe.
• A deputy was dispatched to a vehicle collision that resulted in injury in Friday Harbor. The driver was later cited for driving under the influence; driving with a suspended or revoked license in the third degree; and for not having insurance.
• San Juan Island deputies were advised of a juvenile runaway. The parent was contacted, a pickup order was completed and other local agencies were advised to be on the lookout.
• Deputies disposed of a ziplock plastic bag containing a syringe and drug paraphernalia found by a resident walking near Port Stanley Road on Lopez.
Sept. 15
• A Seattle woman reported her adult daughter missing to Lopez deputies when the daughter did not arrive for their return trip home. A deputy located the daughter, who was safe, a short time later.
Sept. 16
• When Lopez Island Fire and EMS responded to a vehicle crash at Center and School roads, they found only debris remaining. The driver and vehicle had left the scene.
• A driver was issued a citation on San Juan Island after deputies stopped the vehicle for passing a bicyclist in a no-passing zone on Bailer Hill Road.
• A deputy on Orcas Island arrested a person with an outstanding warrant. The subject posted bail and was released with a promise to appear in court.
• When a deputy responded to a call about a domestic disturbance in the San Juan Island area, one of the persons had already left.
• A deputy on Orcas Island stopped a vehicle for speeding, and the driver was issued a citation for traveling 57 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Sept. 17
• A San Juan Island deputy took a walk-in report of found property. Since the owner of the property was unable to be located, the property was turned over to the evidence room as found property.
• A report was made of a theft on Orcas Island.
• A deputy in Friday Harbor was dispatched to a report of a juvenile problem.
• A call was made for a welfare check on a Lopez resident. The responding deputy found the person in good condition with no immediate care needs.
• On Orcas Island, a deputy responded to a report of a domestic dispute at the ferry landing. Further investigation revealed the dispute was verbal only and no threats were made. The parties decided to separate.
• A deputy was dispatched to a report of a non-injury collision on San Juan Island that turned out to be a driver who failed to obey a flagger.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a threatening phone call. The deputy made contact with the caller, who resides in British Columbia, and gathered information for a report.
• A San Juan deputy took a report of an order violation.
• A deputy was dispatched to a domestic incident in the Friday Harbor area. The caller was contacted, a report taken and the investigation continues.
