Animals, animals everywhere – and Duck Soup Inn takes top honors

There were animals in the parade as well as along the parade route Friday as the annual Independence Day parade got underway with more entries than ever before.

Organizers Lin and Pam Pearson were proud to shower accolades on all the participants, and even singled a few out:

2008 Parade Awards & Ribbons:

Best Float — Duck Soup

Best of Theme — San Juan Island Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Judges Choice — Wolf Hollow

Best of Spirit — Island Rec.

Best Off-Island Band — Scottish Highland Band

Spirit Ribbons: SJI Cutthroats, F.H. Falun Dafa, Second Act, SJI Senior Services, Lakedale Resort.
