Volunteer of the month: Franny Tachino

Submitted by the Animal Protection Society – Friday Harbor.

Born and raised on a U.S. military base in Okinawa, Japan, Franny Tachino brings a uniquely valuable perspective and spirit to her work at Treasure Hounds. Since joining as a volunteer in February 2024, she has committed to a five-hour shift every Saturday, consistently impressing both customers and fellow volunteers.

Customers are drawn to Tachino’s warm, kind-hearted demeanor, but those who work alongside her know she’s much more than a friendly face — she’s a dedicated and diligent team member who steps up without being asked. Her meticulous attention to detail elevates everything she touches.

Tachino records our staff meeting notes with clarity and precision, creating a reliable reference for the future. In fact, her own training notes were so thorough and helpful that our volunteer trainer adopted them as a standard resource.

This month, we are proud to recognize Tachino’s outstanding contributions by naming her assistant aanager of Treasure Hounds. We’re so lucky to have Tachino on our team. She embodies the heart of Treasure Hounds, where 100% of proceeds go to support the Animal Protection Society of Friday Harbor.
