SJC Theatre nets $100K at holiday season fundraiser

The event's live and silent auctions together generated $46,000, and Friday Harbor Elementary School teacher Heather Mueller took home the top prize of CATS "Dream Vacation" raffle — Mueller gets to select from four vacation packages valued at $6,000 each — which on its own produced $25,000 in ticket sales.

San Juan Island’s support for the performing arts proved in perfect pitch Saturday, Dec. 7, at San Juan Community Theatre’s “Night of Stars”.

The Community Theatre collected $100,000 for its program endowment at the annual holiday season fundraiser, emceed by former theatre director Merritt Olsen, and with the return of Trish Lehman and the event’s auctioneer.

The event’s live and silent auctions together generated $46,000, and Friday Harbor Elementary School teacher Heather Mueller took home the top prize of CATS “Dream Vacation” raffle — Mueller gets to select from four vacation packages valued at $6,000 each — which on its own produced $25,000 in ticket sales.

With the $50,000 generated by the auction and raffle, combined with a $50,000 match offered by theatre supporters Don Pollard and David Ralston, the event raised a total of roughly $100,000 for the theatre endowment.

“We are overjoyed and overwhelmed by the community’s generosity and support of the theatre arts,” said theatre Chief Administrative Officer Mary Blevins.
