Shantala returns to Friday Harbor, Saturday, June 15, for an evening of call-and-response chanting, dance, and meditation, at XYZ Movement Arts Studio, accompanied by special guest for this year’s concert.

The band, orchestrated by Benjy and Heather Wertheimer, will feature Grammy Award winning bamboo flutist Steve Gorn, and Sean Frenette on bass, vocals and three string guitar.

Dubbed the top “Wallahs to Watch” in 2008 by Yoga + Joyful Living magazine, Shantala performs kirtan (sacred chanting developed in ancient India) worldwide with sacred lyrics, stirring vocals and exotic instrumentation. Purchase tickets, $20, at XYZ studio, 689 Airport Center Road (317-7178), or online, www.shantalamusic.com.
