The San Juan Singers present a choral concert Saturday, 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, 2 p.m., at the San Juan Community Theatre.

Featured this winter is John Rutter’s extended work, “Magnificat.” Directing will be Yariv Aloni of the Victoria Chamber Orchestra.

Members of the Victoria Chamber Orchestra join island musicians to form the orchestral ensemble. Soprano Abby Kitchen is the featured soloist.

“Magnificat” is a lush, lyrical, romantic setting of the canticle Mary sings when she tells Elizabeth she has been chosen to be the Mother of God’s Son, from the story of Christmas as told by Luke in the Bible.

The program also debuts a new work by island composer Mary WillAllen. “Winter’s Bare Branches” portrays the natural beauty of our island home in winter. Under Angel Michaels’ direction, traditional carols round out the concert.

The business partner is Lake Kennedy McCulloch, CPAs PS. Tickets are $18 for adults, $9 for student reserved, $5 student RUSH.
