San Juan Island Library paints children’s area, creates local author section

Check out the following changes at the San Juan Island Library.

New year, new colors

Brightly awash in blue, yellow and “stem” green, the children’s area has had a much-needed facelift.

These fun and brilliant colors are a welcome contrast to the dreary gray of winter.

They also reflect the new logo and, hand-in-hand, the library’s bright new outlook positions the library for an exciting 2019.

Local authors unite

To help highlight and raise the profile of talented local authors, the library staff has created the temporary local author collection. This sits where the temporary poetry collection was, on the left-hand side of the central graphic novel shelves. Signage will be coming soon. Highlighted by bright pink tape and a local author sticker, the shelves hold items from nonfiction, fiction, young adult, children’s and graphic novel collections.

Wi-Fi hours

Just as the library provides free access to books, magazines, movies and much more, it also provides access to free internet, even after hours. Available from the parking lot, un-encrypted Wi-Fi is accessible from 5 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

For more information, visit the library in person, check out their website www.sjlib.org or call 360-378-2798.
