Barnaby Zall and Carla Higginson were presented certificates of appreciation during the San Juan County Bar Association’s annual holiday lunch on Friday, Dec. 12 in Friday Harbor. Zall and Higginson were recognized for work in 2017 and 2018 for both the county and state bar associations.

Zall did legal analysis and writing regarding WSBA issues before the membership. Higginson previously accepted an appointment to fill a vacancy on the state association’s board, and supported the SJCBA legal education program by hosting seminars.

Three members practicing on Orcas Island – Tom Fiscus, Larry Hampel and Selby Lighthill – were introduced and each gave a short synopsis of their careers and areas of practice. Former SJCBA Treasurer Stephen Brandli was elected to that position for 2019, and John Chessell was re-elected as president.
