SJCT offers acting workshop to November
Both new and veteran actors get a chance to “exercise that acting muscle” in a series of classes taught by San Juan island’s own Susan Williams.

“Acting is Out of the Old Bag … And Into the New!” will be held from Sept. 14 to Nov. 7 at the San Juan Community Theatre’s PARC building, 70 Saltspring Drive.

The workshop includes nine classes and one performance. There is an introductory class on Sept. 14 from 2-5 p.m.; eight Tuesday classes from Sept. 16 to Nov. 4 from 6:30-9 p.m.; and a performance for family and friends on Nov. 7.

Williams has been acting and directing for the past 30 years and has led several acting workshops on San Juan Island. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in developing basic acting skills and illuminating individual work with creative exploration.

The cost is $15 per session or $100 for the entire workshop. It is limited to 10 actors per class, and participants must be 18 years and older. Partial scholarships are available; contact Merritt Olsen at 378-3211, ext. 29 for more information.

Actors may register at the box office, which is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Or call 378-3210.
