Naturalist workshops at Whale Museum

Join The Whale Museum for two special programs in April: the “Gear Up” Workshop for marine naturalists on April 22 followed by a CPR/first aid training through San Juan Island EMS on April 23. On Saturday, April 22, the “Gear Up” Workshop will be held at the San Juan Island Grange Hall in Friday Harbor from 10 am to 4 pm. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for registration. Invited presenters include: Lynne Barre (NOAA) on the status of Southern Resident Killer Whales; Sandie O’Neill (NOAA) and Suzanna Stoike (Puget Sound Partnership) on the status of water quality within Puget Sound; Jennifer Johnson (GSRO) on the status of salmon recovery in Washington; and Marla Holt (NOAA) on the status of ocean sound/noise in the Pacific Northwest. The registration fee is $35 for non-members; $25 for TWM or SSAMN members. A no-host reception will follow the session on Saturday evening at Mike’s Café & Wine Bar.

On Sunday, April 23rd, a CPR/First Aid Training will be taught by San Juan Island EMS staff from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. at the San Juan Island EMS Building. This training is designed to allow for marine naturalists to get certified in CPR/First Aid within a single day. The registration fee is $35 for non-members; $25 for TWM or SSAMN members.
