National parks explorer visits the San Juans

Mikah Meyer, of Nebraska, is on a quest to be the youngest person to visit all 411 national parks in three years.

Meyer visited the San Juan’s two national parks in late June and early July. The 30-year-old told the Washington Post that “It’s not just Grand Canyon, Acadia, Yellowstone, it is this whole system of things that make us Americans.”

Only 37 people have achieved the goal of visiting each site.

Meyer is a contributor to the Voice of America, the U.S. government’s news agency. He creates weekly summaries of his journey. Meyer a professional singer, musical improv performer, and founder of a group for young gay Christians.
