National Drive Electric Week in the San Juans

Submitted by the San Juan County Conservation District

The San Juan Islands Electric Vehicle Association is proud to announce it’s second annual Electric Vehicle Show taking place in Friday Harbor at the county offices parking lot (next to the San Juan Community Theater) between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15. Following the success of last year’s show, SJIEVA has partnered with Plug-in America and the Sierra Club to celebrate National Drive Electric Week. Drive electric week is a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today’s widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles and more. Help celebrate that San Juan County is joining the ranks of cities all over the United States and Canada. Attendees will be able to speak with and ask questions of electric vehicle owners and dealers from around the state, drive and ride in electric vehicles, check out informational booths, take home free giveaways, join the fastest growing electric vehicle association in the United States and learn all about energy conservation in the San Juan Islands. Anyone interested in attending this free event, or for people who already own an electric vehicle and would just like to showcase their ride, register at www.driveelectricweek.org, by emailing Ryan@SJICD.org, calling 360-378-6621 or at the drive electric booth during the event. Learn money saving tips and tricks from the pros, where to charge in the county, how to keep San Juan County’s air clean, and lower power bills, all by going electric.
