Memorial service Feb. 13 for Susan Elizabeth Hull Meredith

Susan left this world peacefully and unafraid on the evening of Jan. 26, 2010. It was a beautiful warm and sunny day in her beloved San Juan Islands. She was in the presence of family and friends, and the wonderful caregivers at Islands Convalescent Center made her last hours as comfortable as can be desired.

Oct. 1, 1918 — Jan. 26, 2010

Until that time, she was able to live in the log home she and Dad built with the help of many friends and family.

While her physical presence is gone and will be sorely missed, her spirit lives on in a new realm and in all of us that knew and loved her. She always eagerly embraced a life of adventure and new experiences and the lovely people she met along the way. She has now embarked into a new adventure without the physical frustrations that hampered her, particularly in the last few years of her life. I know she is smiling and happy to be on her way.

Please join us in celebrating Susan’s life. A memorial service will be held at Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church Feb. 13, 1 p.m. A reception will follow at the U.W. Friday Harbor Labs Dining Hall.

If you have any memories or pictures of Susan that you would like to share, please bring them to the reception. We will have a place to display pictures and written memories that will be gathered into a memory book after the celebration.

If you can’t join us in person but would like to add to the memories please send thoughts or pictures to bjmeredith@rockisland.com or mail them to Box 4336, Roche Harbor, WA. 98250.

Many of our grand gatherings of friends and family have centered around potluck feasts. While the reception will be catered by the Friday Harbor Labs, there are many who might like to share by continuing in the potluck tradition. Please feel free, but by no means obligated, to contribute a potluck dish to the celebration if you are so moved. However, the kitchen and its utensils are not available for potluck offerings.

If you can’t attend, please join in the celebration wherever and whenever you can.

Susan continues to live in all of us.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the charity of your choice.
