Look for the starry carts during parade | Letter

Francie Hansen, me, lovingly passed on the Trashion Fashion Show at the county fair to the fabulous Christine and Patrick of the famous Ernie’s Café. And then, she thought, “I’ve still got energy, let’s invent a new scheme!”

After talking with Lori Stokes who had witnessed the Lighted Truck parade in Victoia, British Columia, where each member of the crowd contributed a can of food like the price of admission, I thought, “Wow, the 4th of July Parade, Friday Harbor, why not?”

It’s a win-win situation, and easy to do. Look for Elvis, who will lead the way. The Starry Eyed Legends in their own minds – also adorable humans – who like to dress up like superstars, will be pushing a charitable chariot, i.e. grocery cart, along the parade route. We will all be ready to receive a non-perishable food item — peanut butter, soup, tuna, canned veggies, etc. — for the food bank, or a personal item — toothpaste, shampoo, toothbrush, soap — for the family resource center.

Look for the cars with the stars! Please participate with a simple donation and be a community star!

You can do it! The stars are aligned today, hooray!

XXOO. P.S. Ben Hur gives it a thumbs up.
