Lent and Holy Week church services

Submitted by the Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church

Starting March 11, the Presbyterian Church will host Lenten Soup Salad Potlucks, Mondays, at 6 p.m. Greg Lund will talk about spiritual practices that shape faith. He will draw on the metaphor of God the potter, and his own experience at the potter’s wheel. Child care will be available.

Other events include:

• Maundy, 7 p.m., on Thursday, April 18, in the sanctuary. Take your place at the Lord’s table as we remember the Last Supper.

• Good Friday, 7 p.m., on tenebrae, April 19, in the sanctuary. Tenebrae, which means darkness, is a service of extinguishing candles one by one as the story of the crucifixion is read. It is a powerful way to follow Christ to the cross.

• Easter Sunrise Service and Breakfast, 6:30 a.m., April 21, at the Rex and Lisa Guard Farm, 2603 San Juan Valley Road. Bring blankets and lawn chairs for singing and a message, followed by breakfast at the church.

Easter Worship Service, 10 a.m., April 21, in the sanctuary.
