Learn the secrets of seaweed with Ryan Drum

Curious about the intertidal seaweed flora at Cattle Point? Ryan Drum will lead an excursion to attempt to identify all of the different seaweeds encountered. Drum is a Waldron islander of 40 years and has a Ph.D. in botany. He has taught at University of Massachusetts, University of California – Los Angeles and Western Washington University.

Drum is a local expert on the edible and medicinal uses of seaweed. The class will take place on July 6, 12:30-4:30 p.m. during super low tide, and meets at the Cattle Point Interpretive Center. Register by June 20, for two family members at $57 per couple; additional family are $5 each. Kids under 7 are free with a registered couple. No pets allowed.
