Kiwanis and Honeywell Foundation help send Friday Harbor seniors to college

Submitted by Friday Harbor Kiwanis

The Friday Harbor Kiwanis in partnership with the Honeywell Foundation wrote scholarship checks for a total of $11,400 to 18 Friday Harbor students about to head off to college.

President Vicky Thalacker stated, “I can think of no better investment worth more than the youth of our community.” Kiwanis have partnered with the Dave and Nancy Honeywell Foundation for the last three years. The Kiwanis make the majority of their money during the annual Pig War Picnic held during the Fourth of July. For the last three years they have been awarded a challenge grant by the Community Foundation of Rappahannock River Honeywell Charitable Fund.

Every little bit helps when you head off to college for the first time. The local Kiwanis Club feels fortunate to be able to play a small part in helping 18 local students start the next big phase of their lives.
