Join the Great Islands Clean-Up this fall

Submitted by organizers

The Great Islands Clean-Up is from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, for National Public Lands Day.

Help make the San Juan Islands litter free by the sea. Participate in this countywide greening event where volunteers will collect litter from public beaches and roadways.

Want to help? Bags, grabbers, safety vests and latex gloves will be available at the San Juan County Public Works office on Spring Street during the week before the event, and, on the other islands, the day of the event. Safety signage will be in place on all islands. Pickup of collected litter will be at various places on each island; check with your island’s organizer for more information.

Connect with businesses, schools, nonprofits, service or neighborhood groups, family and friends and volunteer to help. Join a group that has already been formed, or organize a group of your own.
