Job fair comes to Friday Harbor

Submitted by Minnie Knych

Unemployment rates across the country are at record lows. That does not bode well for the summer hiring season in San Juan County. According to the Employment Security Department, the unemployment rate in February 2019 for Washington State was 4.8 percent, and the unemployment rate in San Juan County was 4.5 percent. However, it is important to understand that the unemployment rate is those people who are receiving unemployment payments and actively seeking work. There is another demographic to look at.

There is some good news for employers seeking either year-round or summer help. If you are one of those employers who is looking for the right employee, you can take advantage of the opportunity to meet with several potential employees at once by registering for the Job Fair on April 14.

Here’s your opportunity to gather resumes, talk to potential employees and possibly find just the right person for your business.
