Give kids something to look forward to

The free Family Art Days return for the Winter and Spring Program of Take-Home art packs. The San Juan Islands Museum of Art is pleased to announce the kick-off of the popular free program on Jan. 22 with a three-dimensional paper snowflake take-home pack. This series continues through May 21 with a wide variety of fun and inspirational art projects designed for the whole family. Take-home kits include all materials and instructions needed to plan a project on your weekly schedule.

Each week, SJIMA will feature a new take-home art project. Art kits will be available for pick-up Saturdays at the museum between 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. To participate in Family Art Days, families must pre-register for each week’s project, to ensure enough supplies are available. Visit to get started.

The lessons are designed by teaching professional, Lana Hickman and FAD coordinator, Elizabeth Thomas. Should you wish to volunteer for this program, please email Join the art of discovery at SJIMA, where there is always something new.

The pick-up is located at the art museum at 540 Spring Street in Friday Harbor, WA, from 11 a.m. -1 p.m.

All COVID procedures are in effect for your protection. Family Art Days are joyfully sponsored by Suzy Wakefield, San Juan Island Community Foundation, Leonie Griswold, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Washington State Arts Commission.
