Friday Harbor in Song: ‘Island Life’

The Town of Friday Harbor celebrates its centennial Feb. 9.

On Feb. 2, 1909, residents voted 70-55 to incorporate Friday Harbor as a fourth-class town. On Feb. 8, the San Juan County Commission counted the ballots in a public session, then signed the incorporation document. The county auditor transmitted the document to the Secretary of State’s office and incorporation took effect the following day.
