Friday Harbor animal shelter presents Halloween fundraiser

Submitted by the Animal Protection Society

Join the Animal Protection Society of Friday Harbor for a “pawsitively spooktacular” Halloween fundraiser.

“Howl” attendees will raise funds for shelter animals on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Swinomish Casino and Lodge in Anacortes.

The fun includes a gourmet dinner, no-host bar, costume contest with cash prizes, dancing to a Vancouver Premier DJ, onstage games, raffles, silent auction, and the guest emcee, who is actor Neal McDonough.

All net proceeds will benefit the APS-FH and S.P.O.T. shelters’ day-to-day operational expenses. S.P.O.T., or Saving Pets One at a Time, is a sister rescue in the Burlington area, which shares the Friday Harbor shelter’s mission as a no-kill rescue for adoptable, homeless pets in need.

Tickets are selling fast. The fundraiser is expected to attract Halloween and pet enthusiasts from the San Juan Islands and surrounding counties of Skagit Island, Snohomish and Whatcom.

To learn more or to purchase tickets, visit www.apsfh.com, check out the Animal Protection Society of Friday Harbor Facebook page, or call the “Howl” team: Leslie Byron at 378-2159; Jan Murphy at 378-2158; or Julie Corey at 378-7895.

The shelter will also participate in a live radio broadcast and off-island pet adoption event from 2 to 4 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Dewey Griffin Subaru in Bellingham. Attendees will have a chance to meet some of the animal shelter’s adoptable pets and dedicated staff, along with KISM radio hosts Brad and John. Listen to the live broadcast or come to Dewey Griffin Subaru and join the fun.
