First annual ice cream social at the San Juan Historical Museum

Submitted by the San Juan Historical Museum

Help staff and volunteers of the San Juan Historical Museum celebrate the closing days of a busy season with a sweet treat.

Attend a laid-back, old-fashioned community ice cream social from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 16, at the San Juan Historical Museum Grounds, 405 Price St.

Devour a bowl of ice cream, with chocolate sauce and toppings, and sit with friends and neighbors. There will be picnic tables and chairs, or attendees can bring blankets.

The suggested donation is $5. All proceeds will aid the ongoing development of the new Museum of History and Industry on the historical museum grounds.

All of the museum buildings will be open, so have a look around. Check out the museum buildings before or after the ice cream, and see what staff and volunteers have been doing to preserve and display San Juan Island history. Wear your best vintage hat and enter to win fabulous prizes. Admire each other’s hats, tell stories and listen to the music and advertising of a century ago.
