Submitted by the San Juan Island Public Hospital District 1

San Juan Island EMS (EMS) and the public hospital district offices will be closing to the public in keeping with similar closures across the county and region due to COVID-19. This is a safety precaution. Both offices are still otherwise operating and have no cases of COVID-19.

The public hospital district offices are located at 849 Spring Street and are not the same as PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center (the hospital at 1117 Spring Street), which continues to operate. If you are experiencing symptoms that are consistent with Covid-19, please call your doctor before going in.

All EMS outreach classes are canceled for the time being. The American Heart Association is offering a 60-day extension on all CPR cards, effective March 13.

The previously planned Integration Steering Committee for March 17 has also been canceled.

We have not settled on how to handle our Regular Board Meeting on March 25, but we anticipate that it will either be canceled, or the public will be allowed to call into the meeting remotely. Please check our website at www.sjcphd.org, which will have up-to-date info as it comes. Email butler@sjcphd1.org to be added to the distribution list for updates.

We are following the lead of the county and the Department of Health in the matter of the COVID-19 pandemic and cooperating with PeaceHealth. The county has established an Emergency Operations Center which is coordinating efforts in our county, and we have staff assisting in that cooperative endeavor.

Please follow San Juan County Health and Community Services on Facebook (@SJCPUBLICHEALTH) and check their website for all updates on COVID-19 at https://www.sanjuanco.com/1668/2019-Novel-Coronavirus
