The Island Lights Festival will be held on Friday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. The San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce is excited to share the news that we have a new location for the tree lighting. This year Santa will light the tree at the corner of Argyle and Spring, in front of Wells Fargo Bank followed by some more holiday fun at the Grange.
It will be a fun-filled evening when all start gathering at 6 p.m. at the corner of Argyle and Spring Street to await the arrival of Santa to light the tree. We will have caroling while sipping some hot chocolate and cookies from Riptide Café. First on the schedule will be the Treblemakers Choir of the Elementary School, followed by Angel Michaels and the Island Chordsmen.
After we are finished with the caroling and tree lighting, all will head up to the Grange (another new location for this special night) for pictures with Santa and crafts with Island Rec!
If you have ever walked by the tree you will see a plaque below the tree, naming the tree “The Christmas Tree, dedicated to all MIA’s of all wars”. This was installed Nov. 3, 1990 by the Post 163 of the American Legion.
Friday Harbor Winterfest is a month-long of holiday events in Friday Harbor. We will have more details soon but we wanted you to save the date!
