The website is nearly complete so you will soon be able to go to www.islandrides.org and book a future trip on San Juan Island or Lopez Island. The opinion poll to adopt the new name for countywide recognition was successful and the new logo is shown here for the first time. You can still call 360-298-6108 on San Juan to schedule a ride or email islandrides@gmail.com. A recent grant by the San Juan Island Community Foundation is helping cover costs for this transition.

As we all learn to limit our activities and carefully observe COVID safety protocols, the demand for access to needed services and locations is increasing. IslandRides drivers are masked and carry masks and gloves for riders who need them. They are going to question you regarding your current and recent health status before allowing you in the vehicle and carefully disinfect surfaces afterward. It may be safer to ride with windows slightly down.

Last year, the nonprofit SJI Shuttle System provided 5,340 trips on this island. After a couple of very slow months, the activity level is rising to what it was for the same period last year. Grants and local donors continue to make this free or donation-fare transportation service available.
