San Juan Community Theatre’s Whittier stage fills with sweet harmonies during the popular Barbershop Bonanza on Sunday, 2 p.m.

San Juan’s own Island Chordsmen Plus and the women’s a cappella group Sound Vibrations again host this annual toe-tapping, finger-snapping extravaganza.

Plus, the rest of 2007’s winning lineup returns: Friendly Advice, the 2006 International Championship Seniors Quartet, (just back from a third tour of Finland, with a side trip to Germany); Lopez Sound, an eight-voice a cappella group that also adds a little be-bop and jazz to its barbershop offerings; and more than 60 members of the 100-voice Pacific Sound Chorus, who are heading to an international choral festival in Hawaii this fall.

Director Angel Michaels promises opportunities for the audience to sing along. There will be a traditional “afterglow” following the show, with refreshments available for purchase in the lobby.

This event is sponsored by Friday Harbor Drug. Tickets are $16 for all seats, with festival seating. Reservations are recommended. A private donor has made provision for free tickets to anyone needing financial assistance to attend a theater event.

The SJCT box office is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and one hour before each performance. Call 378-3210 or visit www.SanJuanCommunityTheatre.org
