In early summer, San Juan Island comes alive with vibrancy and warmth, with many of its artists opening their doors to visitors for the 34th annual Artist Studio Tour. This special event offers an opportunity for visitors to enter the creative worlds of local artists, explore private studios and experience incredible art.
You are invited to discover 22 unique studios featuring the work of 67 talented artists on a self-guided tour across San Juan Island. Follow the map to visit tucked-away studios, secret gardens and amazing island views. The tour offers paintings, sculptures, furniture, pottery, textiles, jewelry, wearable art and more. Meet the artists in person and learn about their inspirations and creative processes. Reconnect with favorite artists and discover new talents.
This free event is a perfect way to explore the island, from Roche Harbor to Cattle Point. “The Artist Studio Tour is a beloved experience here on the island,” says sculptor Maria Michaelson, who was born and raised on San Juan Island. “We work towards it all year and love to share what we’re making. It’s transformative and inspiring for both us and visitors who want to get to know island artists and their work.”
The San Juan Island Artists’ Studio Tour began in 1991 with the goal of opening artists’ studios to the public. Artists wanted to share their unique lifestyles, creative tools and the journey from concept to completed artwork. Over the years, the tour has grown into one of the island’s most celebrated and largest arts events.
